we are proud to announce that andreas tilliander is back on echocord after 15 years. this march sees echocord release the ofog ep comprising three original productions from swedens andreas tilliander. stockholm based andreas tilliander is a name thats been synonymous with the underground electronic music scene for a while now, from his contribution to the glitch genre in the early 1990s through to winning a swedish grammy and producing under various monikers creating a variety of sonic art. this includes his previous echocord released lowfour alias, the raster.noton seminal moikra cliphop album and his more recently explored tm404 project which has seen him release on skudge and kontra-musik. tillianders ofog ep kicks off with an upfront and club leaning track entitled storet, which is driven by deep kicks and crisp hats that both sit tightly at each end of the mix, leaving room for twisted chords and delayed synth swells to fill the gap. next up comes the fine dub-tinged and spacious aesthetic of oliveros, where ethereal textures glide freely alongside the live-sounding tape delayed drums, accompanied by a deep, weaving sub. closing the package is risset, in which a half time bass line chugs alongside vibrantly saturated percussion escorted by dubby chords and glitchy atmospherics.

“devotion - part 2” is the continuum of the journey into sciahri’s dimension. the atmosphere here is as thick as it is unsettling. leading the way, a dry, chunky aural flow that begins with “shelter” and then rarefies, taking a more angular yet diffused pattern with “contortion”. the ending “lineage” then throws us in a mass of fog, a state of uncertainty where only hints of a beat are given.

“metamorfosi lp” is bichord’s first full length offering for the planet rhythm imprint after their “quadrivium ep” (2016) was met with critically acclaim by techno aficionados and lovers of adventurous soundscapes alike.

days of being wild continues their collaboration with berlin based french producer franz matthews, releasing his first solo ep, the spacey, cosmic ostkreuz. half of the duo languages, whose 1st ep the label released at the end of last year, franz matthews explores a very different sound on his first solo effort, all space disco, retro synths and funky guitars out. title track ostkreuz has been road tested by the days of being wild crew on dance floors all around europe all of last year and has created euphoria and anticipation in equal measure. this is a cosmic hit from outer space, all constructed around well known ingredients that thanks to franz matthews musical and melodic talent rise here to epic heights. the b-side guns of rixdorf is another devastating peak time tune. while remaining in the same vein as ostkreuz, it feels more high energy with its irresistible funky guitars calling and responding over a driving bass. days of being wild always try to pair producers with remixers that will shed a new light on their work. its no exception with ostkreuz, who gets the reinvention treatment from no other than moscoman and rodion aka the claydermans. the cosmic vibe is still here hovering on top in the opening chords of the remix, but soon enough a sub, housier bass makes its way in the mix and wont let you go until the end. carried by shuffling claps and a bouncier beat, the groove here is totally re-invented, taking ostkreuz from peak time to the darker edges of after land.

dutch producer nathan surreal debuts on biologic records with ?star dust? featuring remixes from adesse versions and neville watson. exploring abstract, ?surreal? and melodic electronic sounds, the dutchman is a perfect addition to the biologic roster. appearing on a host of underground labels since 2014, nathan is set to make a breakthrough with ?star dust’ balancing on the edge of reality and pushing further into the abstract and surreal worlds ?star dust? unfolds through waving synths and dubby bass lines ??? is a darker track, the bassline punchier and driving acid-tinged synths create a dance-floor ready record. next up ?human music? has a more minimal introduction, building in intensity as the synths come through until finally the melody drops, maintaining the dreamy top line that nathan is so adept at maintaining. neville watson provides the first remix on the ep, he adds reverb to the vocal, amplifying its effect on the track. star dust is intensified, perfect for late night, or early morning, dance floors. addesse version?s remix of ?star dust? is a twisted acid remake, a left-field and off kilter beat is slowed down to a psychedelic swirl, pulsating throughout the track.

when words fail, music has the ability to depict the deepest of human emotions and once again kidnap kid uses his signature emotive and sophisticated production to do just that. he returns to birds that fly, the label he founded less than a year ago with brokenhearted an ep containing two original tracks. brokenhearted is a reaction to the immense sadness in the world. my way of processing endless tragedy and distant despair. mist, on the other hand, is a more hopeful response, a faraway light at the end of the tunnel - kidnap kid. musicians have been making music about love and heartbreak for hundreds of years and kidnap kid’s statement on the eternally relevant topic starts with brokenhearted ,a track that taps into the memory vaults. next up is mist whose simple melody is layered over intricate sounds to create an immensely absorbing track. the start of 2016 saw kidnap kid launch his birds that fly imprint as a platform for his own music as well as a means to support like minded producers, such as applebottom and amtrac, both releasing on the label with great success. the labels debut release was from kidnap kid himself and moments was met with such high acclaim it collectively reached 10 million streams, 1.3 million of those coming from spotify and subsequently made the spotify chart in over 10 countries. it was championed by several radio 1 djs and was the closing record for many, including maceo plex who closed his set at crssd festival with the track.

in this session we hear the result of each jouster as they each chose one or more jazz musicians from the united states and began to work with that sound and come up with an instrumental in their own style, just like in season four. however there was a twist, this time they were challenged to focus on jazz between the years of 1960 to 1969. see what you think of the outcome...

fav004 is finally upon us and it comes courtesy of l.a based cheyne taylor bush a.k.a tetrad who has been on fire recently, fresh off the back of an inspired and well received zamzam release last year. here he is joined by brother dillon bush a.k.a ahkur on opener -ashes fall-, a seriously dark piece of music and possibly tetrads heaviest production to date. an eerie intro with a haunting vocal sample drop into an assault of pure dubstep pressure which is sure to ignite dance floors the world over. flip side -crumble- is a more stripped back affair with a nod to the classic sounds of dub with its delayed snares, skanks and fx. what really sets this tune apart though is the overwhelming power of the sub, with a weight-line so devastating it could crumble cities let alone the dance! here brothers tetrad and ahkur have succeeded in providing an outstanding plate, absolutely brimming with sound system material in its purest form. essential.

the fifth in a series of anonymous 12inches on grey area - the label collaboration between auxiliary and horo. experiments in polyrhythm supported by samuel kerridge, asc, ancestral voices, oake, sam kdc, ena, presha and more.

the second release from seattle-based collective secondnature comes from simic with the discussion of interests ep. three tracks of psychedelic and effective electronic music that falls somewhere between house and techno, along with a remix from slow life lead producer s. moreira. discussion of interests is another marker in the development of secondnature’s musical realm, expanding it from the dark and cerebral techno of fugal’s “oil panes” ep to one that includes more groove-laden tracks with expressive melodic content.

“fleischberg” is the 2nd vinyl iteration of berlin’s body focused fleisch collective, following hot on the heels of last year’s highly acclaimed release by schwefelgelb. this 12” starts with a relentless six and a half minute assault by australian native and berlin based halv drøm, a fitting vinyl debut for the talented producer. dsx follows up with a finely tuned ebm track tactfully layered with obscure vocal samples and paired with piercing, frenetic drum programming.
the b side starts with a slightly different approach, recalling a more classic techno and electro tone without losing sight of the release’s progressive focus, privacy’s catchy “work” recalls late 80s chicago masterpieces without becoming overly nostalgic. sekunde rounds out the compilation fully with a plodding and minimal piece that would be best appreciated while being blasted driving 300 km/h down a moonlit back road somewhere in the black forest.

known for their take on the gentler side of house music, jazz pianists, electronic enthusiasts and label founders of the analogue attic imprint, albrecht labrooy have joined night tides family with their latest sojourn emissary ep. the release began with a concept from the artists, who asked for field recordings taken by night tides eluize from around her adopted home in berlin. sounds from parks, gardens, trains and stations that make up the local, everyday sonic landscape made their way across the atlantic to arrive in albrecht labrooys studio, where they were used as inspiration for the three outings on this record. the melbourne duo’s live approach to programming and arrangement can be heard as the tracks ebb and flow effortlessly. in tempelhof sub swells and a throbbing kick accompany delicate leads and lightly touched drums. the more uptempo hinterhof pulses and sways with lively percussion, crystalline bells, euphoric strings and softly spoken melodies that float in and out of view. u-bahn/s-bahn begins with glistening top lines and panoramic chords over a growling bass and a steady groove. as the journey rolls on from the underground into open-air window-gazing territory, the piece takes an ambient, beatless turn. contemplative synth lines and arpeggios play while the station announcements drift somewhere in the distance. photograph by christophe mauberqué.

taking charge of the first release is lucy, who has evolved his distinct sound signature by reconciling the deeply personal with the esoteric, and by harmonizing the spheres of technology and biology. whether he is acting in the role of producer, dj, performer, or stroboscopic artefacts curator, lucys clear passion for creative evolution and mutation is something that continues to attract new listeners, and keeps giving his current supporters new reasons to continue tuning in. ep opener the hermit is eight minutes of spacious and cerebral techno. rolling drums are buried deep as little flecks of sound design peel off the groove. occasional bell hits bring a sombre and languid feel despite the drive of the drums, and it is the sort of perfectly absorbing track that will suck you down a 5am rabbit hole. on the flip, ‘the high priestess’ is a similarly mental work out that is empty and eerie, with distant drones and yawning pads outlining a vast underground space. the drums here are again rubbery and rolling, but a little more prominent, and the whole thing manages to be both soothing and unsettling. after this fine ep starts the label in style, a remix ep from blawan will follow.

mihai popoviciu has carved out a reputation for being one of the most innovative producers of electronic music active in europe today. the man from romania has established himself both as a highly respected producer releasing on labels such as highgrade, international gigolo and dessous and as a killer dj performing all over the world. fiction is his 4th release on poker flat recordings, and delivers four distinct flavours to sink your teeth into. i should is a slinky groover, with a slippery, evolving bassline, tight, funky percussion and a sultry female vocal. working just as effectively early in a set as a peak time moment, its bound to get rinsed in the coming months. twisted is a little harder - a straighter beat signals a more heads down approach, and the bassline is sure to trigger some dancefloor scenes wherever it gets played. next up is title track fiction which perhaps makes a reference to mihai’s background, with fragments of eastern european melodies woven into the beautiful synth work, all tied together over a spacey yet driving rhythm track. last but by no means least is interconnected - a straight up deep bomb with echoes of classic chicago deep and acidic house in its warm and sensual vibe.

after contributing a smashing remix to the first release on blank, uk producer kalyde is coming back to the emerging german imprint with a fantastic ep of his own. growing up in detroit, he never got involved with electronic music until he went to university in bristol, where he honed his production and dj skills before resettling in london. not long after that crucial step, an impressive string of releases followed on great labels like skint, madtech, avotre and roush. kalyde has rapidly advanced to be one of the most exciting new talents in the uk s modern house & techno scene, and also has become a sure shot on dj sets of big players from the likes of annie mac, loco dice, eats everything and many more

out of the south american continent colombian producer duo uron appears for the first time on black brook limited. two tracks of the original and three remix versions completes the ep. the tack titles hiperion and leda are multiple terms. one of saturn s moons is called hyperion and one of jupiter is called leda. we don t know for sure if there is an intended meaning to their sound involved. what we listened to is what you get now. pure energetic techno, signal sounds, heavy drums. the upcoming ep contains more than 30 minutes quality music. responsible for the two remixes is greek producer endlec. hyperion and leda are also two terms leading into the world of greek myths. is it the bridge to endlec while travelling through space your soundtrack should be the 9 minutes groover of leda - repressed mind & escape to mars remix is the perfect piece to float.

darren brandon has been producing house music for more than 2 decades under various pseudonyms club ice, deep sided and dj quad amongst others. hes worked with very close friend, larry heard and released material on black market international, dance mania, alleviated records and many others. perpetual rhythms presents some of his selected works under his guise donnie tempo. trak register is a beautiful arrangement of lush arrangments made for deep thought and the dance floor alike.

it’s time for local talk to go local again with another swedish producer, eric ericsson. with numerous releases out in labels like planet e, fragile and freerange he’s one of those producers with one foot in the techno scene and another in the more soulful house scene. basically, he s not a one trick pony! for his release on local talk we would say he lands somewhere between classic chi-town house and thumping nyc house groove but without sounding too retro or washed out. its simply real house music! we begin with love it, a real bumpy house track with analogue basslines and swinging fender grooves that will work both stateside and in the european house clubs. the second track the chi is as the title suggest a homage to chicago with a slight old school boo williams fee. - dope! but thats not all, to give the release a broader twist we got man of the moment oskar offerman (berlin) to remix love it for us. oskar goes more deep with his trademark sound and gives us a dark mix that will sound amazing in your favourite berlin club of choice.

this release journeys to mid-80s argentina and the highly sought after 2nd solo album of carlos cutaia. inspired by the new electronic sounds emanating from europe, this multi instrumentalist offers more than a pastiche, embedding his own melancholy in a unique and classic nueva wave-album. classically trained, carlos cutaia started as a composer for dance and theatre, before spending much of the 1970s as a member of a number heavy rock, prog rock and rock-fusion bands of some note, before finally going solo with the city of distant tones album in 1983. however, by the time of his 2nd solo album in 1985, as his country finally left behind a long period of military control and enjoyed greater freedoms, carlos was fully immersed in the new electronic pop sounds imported with hungry ears from europe. teaming up with fellow composer, keyboardist and producer, daniel melero and alejandro oucinde, the futurism of kraftwerk and gary numan s tubeway army was embraced, but also adapted to fit their native land, just as it was understand a new modernity. starting with the swagger of visiones incomunicadas, the template is set. sharp drum machines, semi-nonchalant, half spoken vocals set the scene, while chopped guitar and smart synth lines fit the over riding feeling of an intelligent nonchalance. things however, do go beyond the straightjacket of euro-pop as heard on the anthemic programacion and avant twist of the first of two piano-ambient pieces aproximacion dos and its companion piece uno found on the b side). eric satie and minimalism are clearly not far away. however, it is side b opener sensacion melancolica that captures the sound to perfection. a balearic masterpiece, capturing in it s title the over-riding atmospheric of a unexplained sadness, a loss. operativo and the poem humanos de america bring things to an end of a feeling melancolica.

time runs fast and it s time again for our annual vinyl release. for our second delivery we have on board two of the best producers in the techno panorama, no other than tensal and p.e.a.r.l.
tensal opens the release with his own particular version of the original, enforcing the beats adding white noise sweeps, twisting the sound and rearranging the structure in a clever and hypnotic vein. following on b2 a special edit version of the original mix.
on b side p.e.a.r.l. is on remixing duties offerin a raw beat exercise as remix one and a more complex rework as bonus remix to close the release.

acid pauli is a name synonymous with certain aesthetic towards electronic music culture - both a part of the unhooked generation of that grew up experiencing his revelatory sets at places like bar 25 and fusion, and yet deeply rooted in musicality and adventurousness. bld, the second full album from martin gretschmann, (aka acid pauli), builds on his already impressive back catalogue which spans back to 2005, and includes a debut album released on nicolas jaar’s clown and sunset. over the course of the eight tracks here, gretschmann explores some of the many facets that have made him one of the most trusted artists in his field. released on his own (and nico stojan’s) label ouïe - the album is the perfect expression of the imprint’s commitment to diverse, exciting sounds, freed of the conventions of traditional club music. the album covers a number of moods and emotions, from dystopian carnivalesque vibes to moments of high intensity, through to deep melancholia and synth laden ambience. gretschmann’s well documented love of the sampler shines throughout - tracks are textured and colored with different hues from his extensive sound palette, whether it’s a part of his more psychedelic moments, or concentrated on his innate knowledge of dancefloor dynamics. as such bld sits together as a complete piece of music - to be relished just as much by blissed out home listeners as the left-field dancers.

d edges cultured off shoot olga is back with a new ep, radiolarian, from german-bulgarian stefan goldmann. again it is a perfectly well sculpted ep with deep and sleek lines that get right into your head. the man behind it is the co-owner of the excellent macro label and for more than fifteen years has released intricate house and techno sounds. he is a deep thinker and master of hi-fidelity sound design and intricate grooves, so is perfect for this label. radiolarian is first and is seven sublime minutes of tunnelling techno rippled with neon melodies and firefly like pads that burrow into your brain. it is a high tempo and high impact track but a subtle one that works its magic slowly. building to a number of peaks, it then pulls back and the whole thing starts again. on the flip, streams is freaky and unhinged, with weird synth sounds making for a trippy atmospheres as minimal beats roll below. perfectly detailed so as to work on both head as well as heel, it rounds out another fine ep.

the next cosmos release comes from salomon dunkan, a mysterious and unknown producer who serves up two tantalising tracks... . android (adamantium mix) is a slow and percolating house track with a rugged acid line and sharp percussive knives cutting up the rubbery kick drums below. swirling pads add a cosmic atmosphere and there whole hits slowly but surely builds to a raging and intense peak of bristling hits and gurgling synths. it s controlled chaos and then tacchi a spillo treads a more direct path. again the high hats are bright and sharp, the mood is very sci-fi and the bass lines rumbled down low. like a deep space odyssey this one travels far and wide and grows ever more physical and jacking as it goes on.
